National Parks

Eurimbula National Park.

A picturesque coastal park with sandy beaches and paperback swamps, eucalypt forest, mangroves and rain forest with a spectacular floor of wild flowers in spring can only be found in Eurimbula National Park, just west of Agnes Water .

What's special

On this picturesque coastline, Cook made his first landing in Queensland and botanist Joseph Banks collected plants. Botanically rich, the parks protect both tropical rainforests and coastal mangroves.

Deepwater National Park

On unspoiled coastline, 7.5 kilometres from Agnes Water,  Deepwater National Park features beautiful fresh water wetland, high sand dunes and is backed with open forest. Deepwater National Park provides captivating scenery and is a place where people can fish and enjoy the secluded beach in a quite and unspoiled area. There are numerous walking tracks available for those who enjoy a stroll or bush walking.

A developed camping area is situated at Wreck Rock with picnic tables, one cold shower and self composting toilets.

This park protects sandy beaches, diverse coastal lowland vegetation and the catchment of near-pristine Deepwater Creek, one of Queenslands few remaining undisturbed coastal freshwater streams.

 

Kroombit Tops State Forest and National Park

Kroombit Tops with rugged parkland's, spectacular views, subtropical rain forest patches and palm fringed waterfalls is situated 85 kilometres south-west from Gladstone. Access to Kroombit Tops is from the north via Tablelands Road. From the on Munholme Creek Road near Monto there is also access. These roads require a 4WD. Further to the west of the park is Kroombit Park on Lochenbar Station which features excellent accommodation.

Lady Musgrave Island National Park

On the Southern Great Barrier Reef, Lady Musgrave Island National Park is a beautiful coral cay surrounded by reefs, sitting at the western end of a huge, calm water lagoon and is situated just east from Gladstone and the Town of 1770. Lady Musgrave Island showcases superb wildlife displays throughout the year with endless bird watching and turtle nesting between November and February.

There are a number of operators able to assist with transfers to Lady Musgrave Island . Day trips or self-sufficient camping is offered, with limited camp-sites available. Composting toilets are available on Lady Musgrave Island.

We have access to a number of wrecks which provide exceptional diving. The sites range in experience levels from open water to technical divers and they have something for everyone. We dive the Karma, Cetacea & Barcoola wrecks and the quantity of marine life has to be seen to be believed. Sea snakes, large cod, trevally, batfish, yellow tail, cobia and wobbegong sharks all make regular appearances at these dive sites.

We run trips to various sections of the reef including Lady Musgrave Island, Hoskyn Island, Fairfax Island, Llewellyn Reef, Fitzroy Reef and Boult Reef. This pristine environment makes for some spectacular diving.                                                                                                      There are a  host of great dive sites located just offshore from the 1770 marina including Pancake Creek and the 3 rock pinnacles of Bustard Head. The depths range from 10-35 metres and feature hard and soft corals with tropical and temperate marine life. We also do night dives in Round Hill Creek .

Destinations include Lady Musgrave Island and Fitzroy Reef, where certified divers can enjoy several dives along various sections of the reef, with our experienced team. Aquatic life commonly seen includes a variety of turtles, manta rays, moray eels, large coral trout, potato cod, bat fish, schooling trevally, lion fish, sea cucumbers, nudibranchs, clown fish and anemone's. Visibility usually ranges from 15 - 20m, with 25m+ visibility not uncommon on calm days.

The Town of 1770 provides excellent access to nearby dive locations such as Bustard Head and Pancake Creek which offer a variety of dive locations. Bustard Head has 3 rock pinnacles, Inner, Middle and Outer Rock which each provide a variety of soft and hard corals, and tropical and temperate fish types. Depths range from 10 - 35m and visibility is usually around 10-15m.

Nearly 2 years ago the 48m cargo vessel 'Karma' was sunk, and it has since become one of Queensland's best wreck dives. Sitting in 28m of water, the Karma wreck offers an excellent dive location for divers of all experience levels.

l      1770 Air Adventures

We offer aviation adventures at the "Town of 1770" near Bundaberg in Southern Queensland.
We do Scenic or Aerobatic flights with a "beach landing" included in all flights on a tropical island.

We also have a totally new "Skylarking" adventure. We fly people to the Middle Island for a 3 day camp and give them lots of toys to play with...sailing kayaks, paddle kayaks, sand boarding down the 30 M dunes into the water, snorkelling, fishing and swimming.                                            
We have a "limited aerobatic" flight available in which we do "Lazy 8s and Chandelles" in our Fuji aerobatic aircraft.

On this flight we can take 3 passengers.
We also land on a beach for a "pit stop" to take a few posy pictures and eat oysters.

We also do "full" aerobatic flights and can only carry one passenger.

Reef Fishing

Many techniques can be employed to target to large variety of reef species, these range from pinpointing small isolated pinnacles in 50 metres in search of schooling Red Emperor and deep water Coral Trout to drifting over coral reef shoals and bommies ranging from 10-20 metres with a possibility of catching anything from Hussar to Red Throat and Coral Trout.

Deep Sea Fishing

With the continental shelf running parallel to the reef chain the opportunity of working the 100m line exists for those equipped to do so, with large schools of Snapper, Pearl Perch and Red Emperor habiting the shelf areas.

Extended or live aboard fishing trips are the ultimate sports fishing holiday. With Coral Coast Game Fishing you will travel to remote reefs and coral atolls to fish waters rarely accessed by other fishermen. These trips generally run for either 2 or 3 days depending on the needs of the anglers, and of course the weather. A typical day on an extended trip will start with a quick breakfast. Following this anglers will spend their time towing lures and baits for pelagic, fishing the bottom for reef species such as Coral Trout and Reds, throw Poppers over the reef for the chance at some huge GTs or grab a Jigging rod for a bit of a workout and the chance to catch a fish of a lifetime.

When the sun starts to set or your arms are too tired to continue, grab a cold refreshment on the back deck while one of the crew prepares dinner. After dinner it is possible to continue to fish from the back deck, wind down with a few drinks and a DVD or compare notes from the days fishing.

On these extended trips it doesnt have to be all about the fishing. If guests wish to try something a little different for an afternoon there are a number of options available. These sections of reef are practically untouched; this provides an excellent opportunity to do some snorkelling in the crystal clear waters. The abundance of All meals are provided for the entire trip along with non alcoholic drinks. If guests desire they are able to BYO alcoholic beverages. The meals will be prepared by the crew so that you can concentrate on having a fantastic time.

A full day private charter with Coral Coast Game Fishing involves booking the boat for a day. This allows guests private access to the boat. Private charters are ideal for families and groups of friends wishing to spend a days fishing out from Agnes Water or 1770. Vasco III is in survey for eight people, after booking the boat guests are permitted to bring up to this many people.

Booking a private charter gives anglers more control over what type of fishing is done and where the boat goes. A full day fishing trip on Coral Coast Game fishing is ideal for small groups or individuals who want to spend a day fishing from 1770 or Agnes Waters. Trips start early in the morning when the bait schools are still feeding deep, making then easier to target. After a brief stop to gather bait the boat will then head offshore to fish the reefs.
