Tourism Awards. Being new to the Tourism industry, this
is the first time we've entered an award. We are overwhelmed
and obviously very excited with the amazing positive feedback

Mike has over thirty years
experience in the Tourism Industry. This experience has
included the management of iconic tourism products both in
Australia and overseas, including: Thredbo Alpine Resort in
New South Wales; Skyrail Rainforest Cableway in Queensland and
Ski Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
He also held the position of Director International
Marketing for Tourism Queensland for 9
years.
Mike now operates his own tourism management
consultancy business in Brisbane, Extra-Mile Tourism
Management Pty Ltd.
"Normally one would associate the
?Guesthouse? with single entity property in the class of maybe
a B&B. This not the case in regard to LaLaLand Guesthouses
in Agnes Waters.
Though a little tricky to spot from the
highway, with only a small sign (maybe that?s a good thing),
once at the property first impression is very pleasing.
Set
in a semi-rural setting, the 4 individual guesthouses, which
could also be describes as villas, luxury cabins or architect
designed beach houses, each have a different external colour
scheme. This in itself breaks the mould for this type of
accommodation and sets the scene for what one may expect
inside.
It becomes obvious on entering a guesthouse that a
lot of thought has gone into the design, construction and
fit-out of the property. The quality and style of the fit-out
is extremely good in all areas. Leather lounge suite, flat
screen TV, good quality kitchen equipment and utensils, make
for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Basic layout of
the 4 guesthouses is the same, except for the fact that one is
wheelchair compatible.
While the property is still in its
infancy and is constantly being improved, it is by no means a
construction site. The owners are now making fine tuning
adjustments to meet the customer?s needs, which they are
identifying through guest interaction. Features such as
constructing a ?fish cleaning? station (due to the high volume
of fishing market to the region) and setting up of campfire
areas, all coming from seeing what the guests would like to
see included. As a constant
proponent of new entrants not entering the market with more of
the same, I applaud the operator?s boldness & courage in
creating a unique
product/experience."
